Haven’t Heard of the Acai Berry Yet?

You’ve probably been eating blueberries since you were a little kid. Maybe you’ve had huckleberries too, which are a little harder to find since they’re hand-picked in the wild. (They’re not easily cultivated.) But are those the only small, dark berries?

The answer is no! There’s an even more coveted berry called the acai (ah-sigh-ee) and it comes only from the rainforest. So it’s no surprise that is not that well-known here in the USA. But… it is starting to gain popularity, so keep your eyes out!

But what’s so great about this little berry?

Well, did you know that 70% of the plants found to fight against cancer cells are found in the rainforest? Yep, there’s all kinds of healthy food in there. Some people refer to the acai as one of the planet’s “best kept health secrets.” (I’ve also heard that native Brazilians call it the “Viagra of the Amazon.)

Put simply, the acai berry is full of potent antioxidants and other substances to promote good health and well-being. (Ever heard of having a glass of red wine with dinner? It’s for the antioxidants.)

Here are just some of the things the acai berry can do:

–Boost energy levels almost instantly
–Increase mental clarity
–Slow the aging process

There are many more health benefits, but these are a few that I have noticed myself.

With the aging baby boomer population, it’s no wonder why the wellness industry is booming too. If you search Google for “acai” you’ll find plenty of results.

Just watch out for any acai products that make ridiculous weight loss claims. The acai berry is great, but it’s not a miracle cure!

Why Aren’t You Using Omega3 Acid Supplements?

Studies from all over the world are reporting that over 90% of people are deficient in omega3 acid. This leads to a host of health conditions forming. For example, people who are deficient in omega3 fatty acids are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and heart disease.

The good news is that these can easily be prevented by using high-quality omega3 acid supplements. Researchers and doctors from all over the world recommend that you keep your fatty fish intake from food to fewer than three meals a week.

This is because fatty fish today are swimming in polluted and contaminated waters. Eating too much of them can be dangerous to your health and well-being. You might wonder then, if the fish are contaminated, won’t the omega3 acid supplements be too?

The answer is no if you find a high-quality company that know how to produce the best and purest products. The first thing you want to look for is that they use a molecular distillation process to ensure pharmaceutical grade purity and safety in their omega3 acid supplements.

I also like to look for clinical trials and independent reviews done by government approved laboratories to prove the effectiveness, safety and quality of the product that I am about to buy.

For example, a recent clinical trial showed that when you blend tuna and hoki oil into the same omega3 acid supplement it enhances the health benefits by up to 2 1/2 times without adding any extra cost to the consumer.

By doing your research and educating yourself, you can begin to find these scientific gems that prove which products are worth buying. This is how I found the fish oil products that I use daily now.

It is unfortunate that there are so many companies out there producing low-quality products. Many consumers are unaware of the fact that they are buying overpriced products.

Whey Protein Concentrate – Is This the Best Protein?

When you start researching whey protein products, you will find that whey comes in three forms. These include whey protein isolate, whey protein hydrolysate, and whey protein concentrate. So, which whey is the right one to aid in your body building endeavors?

It is widely believed now that whey protein isolate is the best choice, because it is whey
in its purest form. However, there are some people who do better with a whey protein concentrate. Whey protein isolates do not contain any lactose, fat, or carbohydrates. While this may be great for someone who is in good shape already, it really isn’t necessarily the best choice for someone who needs to build muscle and gain a little weight as well.

In this case, the whey concentrate is indeed the better choice. Whey concentrates do have little fat and cholesterol, but also have a high amount of carbohydrates.

It is important to note that while whey isolate has about 90% pure protein, whey concentrate does not have as much pure protein. In fact, the more lactose and carbohydrates that the whey concentrate has, the less pure protein it has. A whey concentrate has anywhere from 29% to 89% protein, with the higher quality whey concentrate having the greatest amount. It is important that you read labels, and find the one with the highest level of pure protein, even though it will cost more than the other whey concentrate products.

A quality whey concentrate, however, will cost less than whey isolate products, which is a bonus for those who want less lactose and carbohydrates. Protein supplements are expensive, and not everyone can afford the high quality products. Even though there is just a 1% difference between a whey protein isolate and a quality whey protein concentrate, the difference in cost is usually pretty great.

So, how much whey protein concentrate do you need? Most experts agree that for physic athletes, including bodybuilders, one and a half grams of protein per pound of body weight is optimum. But you may wish to experiment to find the exact amount that works best for you. Start at one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight and work your way up slowly as your body progresses.

Whey protein concentrate should not be taken in its original packaged form. It should be mixed with a liquid, such as fruit juice, but it should not be mixed with a dairy product, like milk. Also, you may not want to start at the full 30 grams per feed. Instead, you may want to work up to that, so that you don’t risk constipation and other side effects.

With all of that said, however, one must be cautious about using it as these products are considered high dairy products, and if you are lactose intolerant, you may have serious problems with a whey protein concentrate, and may need to opt for a whey protein isolate instead.

MOXXOR Scam? A Product Review

You may not have heard of it yet but there is a new natural health network marketing business called Moxxor that will likely soon make headlines with what it calls “The Most Powerful All Natural Omega-3 and Antioxidant on the Planet…” You may be shaking your head thinking of other so called wonder products such as Monavie, that claim to offer extraordinary health benefits, while at the same time making you practically broke if you decide to try them. The upside to this story is that Moxxor is a genuine product without fillers.

Moxxor was founded by Noel and John Turner after years of interest in the use of green-lipped mussels as a source of omega-3s. Native to New Zealand, the Turners began their first exports of green-lipped mussel oil to the United States back in the 1980s. Since then they have actively promoted this omega-3 source throughout the world. Their product, MOXXOR, contains both green-lipped mussel oil and sauvignon blanc grape seed extract to create not only an exceptional source of omega-3s but also a very powerful antioxidant supplement.

Research has shown that omega-3s can be beneficial in the reduction of symptoms or prevention of everything from allergies and asthma to high blood pressure and heart disease. Antioxidants neutralize free-radicals and research has demonstrated them as having anticancer and anti-aging properties.

According to it’s very own label a serving size of MOXXOR contains 300mg of a propriety blend of Greenlip Mussel Oil, Marine Omega Fatty Acids, and Grape Seed Extract. The company’s website touts that that MOXXOR Mussel Oil has and anti-inflammatory value that his 158 time more effective than Fish Oil and the MOXXOR Grape Seed Extract has an ORAC Value that is 3 times more effective than the acai berry, 3.8 times more effective than mangosteen, and 47 time more effective than the goji berry. Given the popularity of fish oil and these super fruits MOXXOR seems like it will attract much attention.

Finally, what is the cost of this seemingly incredible supplement? A bottle of MOXXOR, which equates to about a month supply is $60 USD. If this is a little more expensive than your current fish oil or antioxidant supplement consider that there are no fillers in this product. Many fish oils actually use plant oils as fillers and are cheaply manufactured with chemical solvents and heat, not only making the products less effective but also contaminating them. MOXXOR is a legitimate product without fillers.

What Men And Women Should Know About Magnesium And Its Benefits To Your Skin

Since the day of Cleopatra, people have experienced or heard of the healing powers of the Dead Sea. It is believed that a primary reason for this is because of the dense accumulation of magnesium in the Dead Sea waters. Magnesium or Mg is prevalent in many products made with Dead Sea minerals and can be used as an over the counter option in alleviating many conditions that effect our skin. Magnesium has many other beneficial applications to our body, our food, the fertilizer we use… but we want to focus here on it’s topical benefits to our skin.

Allergic Reactions:

Magnesium has an ability to cleanse your skin and detoxify the entire epidermis. Specifically, areas where you might be experiencing allergic reactions can be relieved or eliminated.

Anti Aging – Anti Wrinkle:

Magnesium is an ion essential to all living cells. When areas particularly around your eyes and face are treated, studies show that many people see a significant reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. The presence of this element enhances the natural hydration of your skin and encourages the production of collagen already present in your skin cells. Many people can also see a significant reduction in the depth of wrinkling.

Acne:

Same as the positive effects that magnesium has on allergic reactions, using magnesium based products for cleansing your skin in areas where acne is present or prone to immerge will help in fighting this hormonal reaction by your skin.

Psoriasis & Eczema:

The National Psoriasis Foundation outlines one of their treatment recommendations as using the sun and water therapy from the Dead Sea. See their site at www.psoriasis.org. These are extremely common skin conditions. Healing of these areas on your body and often be healed very quickly with proper application. In addition to reducing roughness and skin inflammation, we found a study that outlined the benefits to these same patients in their ability to sleep better.

Magnesium encompases roughly 2% of the earth’s crust. If this is so, why do we continue to focus on these minerals found in the dead sea? Mg is the third most plentiful element dissolved in seawater. And in the Dead Sea it is known to be the richest and healthiest of all waters. Unlike no other body of water, the Dead Sea contains no living microorganisms. This includes no seaweed, plants or fish of any kind. Also, because of it’s elevation being below sea level, a much higher concentration of Magnesium exists that any other body of water on the earth. The Dead Sea contains a 33% concentration of salts and minerals compared to only 3% in the ocean.

Treatments:

If you have the means and ability to travel to the Dead Sea, it is chocked full of Clinics and spas that use a combination of exposure to the waters of the Dead Sea along with the healing benefits of the sun. If you aren’t able to go this route many seek professional help from dermatologists. A much less expensive option that has proven highly beneficial is by using over the counter masks, lotions and minerals made from Dead Sea minerals including but not limited to Magnesium.

The natural treatment of using magnesium in topical products is suitable for all people including children and pregnant women with very few contraindications. The striking effectiveness of this treatment and the fact that it is more cost effective than many other treatments makes it a very popular alternative.
